I'm looking for someone to help me find some information on a 74 RR/GTX. I've heard they dont exist, but they do and I own 2 of them. Numbers match, 440, 727 torqueflite, posi-track rear. Appearently 73 was the last year they were made, and these two are marked 1974. Any information I can get would be greatly appreciated!!

According to Allpar, here's what they had to say on the 1974 Road Runner - may be wrong, a google result shows the GTX's had 440's after all...(http://www.allpar.com/model/roadrunner.html) John Belbas pointed out that the 1968 Road Runner had the 383 or Hemi; the 1969 and 1970 Road Runner had the 383, Hemi, or 440 triple-twin-barrel. In 1972, the Hemi and 440 six-barrel dropped out of the picture, but the 383 was bored out to become the 255-net-hp 400, and the 340 was added to the lineup, with nearly as much power as the heavy 400 (240 hp) but lighter weight, helping the Road Runner's cornering. The 340 was later replaced by the 360, which had less power than the original 340; the 440 dropped out of the Roadrunner in 1974 (and was dropped completely by Chrysler in 1978).Also a few other links: wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_1974_roadrunner_were_producedwww.automotivehelper.com/topic728343.htmDon't know if this is helpful to you

I've heard it said that anything was possible back then. The proof would be in the pudding, check the #s on the passenger side of the block, they should coincide with your dash serial #. If the numbers match enough said, if they don't you could still verify what originally came in the cars by the fender tag, 5th digit for a 440=T or U 400= N or P ( www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=17 ) If neither of these pan out then it's most likely the 440s were transplants. Good Luck Da Bullitt
